Volunteer

Fairport Crew Club depends on the volunteer work done by our members and their families.  Volunteer opportunities are presented at the start of each youth rowing season, via Sign-Up Genius.  A link to this sign-up will be sent to all families through the FCC Rowers group email.

Regatta Food Tent

The food tent ensures that our rowers are well-fed with sports nutrition in mind.  It also provides a gathering area for Fairport Crew families to socialize at many of our regattas.  Volunteers are needed to do the following for most regattas:

  • Provide/send needed food items
  • Help to load/unload the food trailer
  • Set up the tents, tables, etc. at the event
  • Assist at the tent during the event (don’t worry, we always make sure you have time to see your kiddo and others race)

Path Patrol

Parent volunteers are needed during each practice to stay at the boathouse while crews are on the water. Path patrol responsibilities include putting out the boat crossing signs at the first practice and bringing them back in at the end of the last practice. This volunteer will also assist with watching for pedestrians when crews are crossing the towpath.  They will stay at the boathouse so that the doors can remain open and unlocked.  It’s a great opportunity to bring a chair and enjoy the outdoors. This may also be a job a grandparent might enjoy as they get to watch our teams from the boathouse. Because this is a need for every practice, we ask families to sign up for several spots to help provide for the needed coverage.  See Path Patrol Duties for additional details about this position.

Ongoing Fall and Spring Volunteer Jobs

There are many important jobs that need to be done throughout the season.  We need the help of each and every family to keep the boathouse, teams, and club operating smoothly! See General Volunteer Descriptions for a list jobs and their descriptions. The Facilities Team, which helps with general maintenance and repairs at the boathouse, is described in Boathouse Maintenance Duties
